Northampton, MA - Despite the weather conditions, the NEWMAC Championship Meet went on Saturday afternoon. The Women's Cross Country team finished 10th of 11 teams at the meet. Smith College was the host to MIT's first place finish and conference championship. Just like the men's side, MIT, WPI, and Coast Guard were 1, 2, and 3 at the podium.
Clark's Meghan Davinroy (Louisville, CO) was the top finisher for her team, completing the race in 59th place. Junior Nicolina Braccio (Nashua, NH) crossed the line in 63rd on Saturday, just seconds before teammate Kathryn Rivard-Lentz (East Hampton, CT) in 65th place. In 66th was Yana Zubarev (Needham, MA) and in 67th for Clark was Diana Castillo (San Jose, Costa Rica). Also competing in the NEWMACs was Liza French (Middleborough, MA) and Katie Gross (Petaluma, CA).
MIT's first place finished was paced by Jenna Melanson who finished in 2nd overall. The Engineers also had runners in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place. WPI's top four runners all finished within 15th place individually. Coast Guard's third place finish was led by Sophomore Kaitlyn Mooney who ran the best time on Saturday. Host team Smith College came in 5th place as a team.
Up Next - The NCAA Regionals kick off on November 10th at 11AM. The meet will be held in Brunswick, ME at Bowdoin College.
