Westwood, Mass.-- Senior Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and junior Rayme Quiban (Seattle, Wash.) of the Clark University women's volleyball team swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards as announced by the league office on Monday morning. Ramos was named the NEWMAC Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week while Quiban earned Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades for the second straight week.
Ramos boasted a 79 kill performance last week in her four games of action helping lead the Cougars to a 2-2 record. The senior saw her best performances come in a 27 kill match at UMass.-Boston and then a 26 kill match vs. Amherst. Ramos averaged 5.07 kills per set while also recording three assists and four service aces.
In a 2-2 week for the Cougars, Quiban was solid on the defensive front. The Seattle native registered an impressive 100 digs in four games, averaging 6.67 digs per set. Quiban saw her best performance in a 3-1 victory over NESCAC foe Amherst where she amassed 34 digs.
Clark is back in action on Tuesday, October 17th as they travel to Mount Holyoke College for a 7:00 p.m. NEWMAC match.
