Volleyball Adds Three To Comprise Class of 2021

Worcester, Mass. – After guiding Clark University to its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and tournament victory, head coach Mickey Cahoon has announced the incoming student-athletes who will comprise the class of 2021.

"We are fortunate to be adding three extremely talented first-years to our team this fall," said Cahoon, who will be entering his 11th season on the Clark sidelines this fall. "Each of them will be expected to contribute to our continued success in their own way, but more importantly the University is getting three incredible people who will make a positive difference as students and members of the Clark community."

Included in the class are Kendra Campbell (North Kingstown, R.I.), Caitlin Kim (Cohoes, N.Y.) and Sophia Torino (Los Angeles, Calif.).

In addition to the three newcomers, the Cougars, who are coming off of a 24-9 campaign and their second straight appearance in the conference title match, will return All-American Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), as well as key upperclassmen in Ana Mercado (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and Rachel Webb (Celina, Texas).

Clark will open their 2017 season at the Worcester City Tournament on Saturday, September 2 against Gordon College.

  • Helped lead North Kingstown to a Division I South title and a spot in the state title match as a senior.
  • Played club volleyball with Blast Volleyball.

Caitlin Kim / Freshman / DS / 5-3  /  Cohoes, New York  /  Shaker

  • Three-year letterwinner at Shaker High in Latham, New York.
  • Two-time team MVP.
  • Two-year team captain.
  • All-Star Honorable Mention as a junior.
  • All-Star Second-Team Selection as a senior.
  • Helped team advance to sectional semifinals as a senior.
  • Played five seasons of club volleyball with Northeast Thunder (4) and Lakeside Volleyball Club (1).
  • Selected as member of the IREVA High Performance team, competing on national team and international teams.

Cahoon on Kim: "Caitlin is a versatile and talented player who plays the sport with a tremendous work ethic and high IQ making her an ideal fit for our style of play."
