Ramos Collects First-Team All-Conference Honors

Worcester, Mass. – For the second straight year, Clark University volleyball superstar Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) first-team all-conference it was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the league's Executive Director, Patrick Summers. The award comes following a vote of the league's 11 head coaches.

Ramos was her normal dominant self in 2016, helping the Cougars to their second straight conference title match and the program's first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

She enters the NCAA Tournament ranked third in the league in kills per set (3.97) and first in total kills (437), while ranking in the top ten in digs per set (3.99) and overall digs (439).

Earlier in the season she became the school's all-time leader in kills and is just one of two players in school history to have more than 1,000 kills (1,130) and 1,000 digs (1,125).

She picked up her fifth career player of the week award back in October following a pair of monster performances.

Ramos had double figure digs in 27 of 31 contests thus far this season and even more with six of those contests have 20 kills or more.

Of the 31 matches she played in, she had double-doubles in 21 of them including huge showings against Amherst (20 kills, 21 digs) and MIT (21 kills, 26 digs).

This marks the third straight season in which Ramos has garnered postseason accolades from the conference office. In 2014, she was named second-team all-conference in addition to being named rookie of the year. Now she has consecutive first-team selections to add to an already impressive array of awards.

Ramos and the Cougars will continue their season on Friday when they take part in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
