Boston, Mass. – Nearly half of the Clark University volleyball roster have been named to the 2016 New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team it was announced this afternoon by Executive Director Patrick Summers.
Mia Cattaneo (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Maddy Chuma (Westborough, Mass.), Madi Garrity (Duxbury, Mass.), Kacey Legare (Chicopee, Mass.), Courtney Pharr (Seattle, Wash.), Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.), Heather Todoroff (Louisville, Ky.), and Tori Whitney (Sunderland, Mass.) were all selected to the distinguished group of honorees. The eight individuals selected are tied with Springfield for the most honorees among all NEWMAC volleyball programs.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2016 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Along with their academic successes, the Cougars are experiencing triumphs on the court as well. They advanced to their second consecutive NEWMAC Tournament Semifinal after their win over Wellesley on Tuesday night. That victory sent their record to 22-7 overall and gives the program its most wins in consecutive seasons (44) since they won 48 in the 1988 and 1989 seasons.
The Scarlet and White, seeded third in the conference tournament, will face No. 2 seed Springfield on Saturday, November 5 at 3:30 p.m.
