Hartford, Conn. – Clark University raced out to a huge lead and was never really threatened as they opened up the Trinity Invitational with a 3-0 win over Westfield State in non-league volleyball action on Friday evening.

How It Happened:
Clark was in control from the beginning and after they won the first set 25-21, they cruised to a 25-9 victory in the second. In that masterful set, the Scarlet and White hit a blistering .458, hammering down 14 kills in just 24 total attacks.
Things continued that way in the third and final set where the Owls kept it close but the Cougars proved to be too strong, wrapping up the set and the match with a 25-22 decision.
Courtney Pharr (Seattle, Wash.) had one of her best matches as a collegian, finishing with a match-high 13 kills to go along with five digs, three service aces and two solo blocks.
Savannah Sanford (San Anselmo, Calif.) continued her excellent play on the Cougars' back row, racking up a match-best 17 digs – her fifth straight match with double figure digs.
Hannah Fox (Dracut, Mass.) was extremely efficient in tallying six kills on just ten attempts with one error to hit a match-best .500.
The Scarlet and White return to action on Saturday with two matches at the Invitational. They square off with Eastern Connecticut at 10:00 a.m. before facing the host Bantams at 12:00 p.m.
