Cambridge, Mass. – Taking part in a tri match with MIT and Simmons College, Clark dropped both matches, snapping their four match winning streak on Saturday afternoon.
In their opening match of the day, the Cougars fell to undefeated MIT, 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-13). Engineer junior Trinity Leonard led MIT with a match-high 13 kills to go along with a .550 hitting percentage and four digs.
After seeing their conference record fall to 1-1, Clark then dropped a marathon match to Simmons College, 3-2 (25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 23-25, 15-6).
In the back-and-forth battle, Meaghan Flynn amassed 23 kills to help Simmons (8-2) put away Clark in five sets. Setter Rachel Dufault also had a strong outing for the Sharks, handing out 39 assists and serving up five aces.
Kelly again led the way defensively for Clark, recording 36 digs in the match. Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.) had a solid all-around outing for the Cougars, notching 13 kills while recording seven blocks - four of which were solo. Setter Rachel Spera (North Hollywood, Calif.) dished out 30 assists.
Clark returns to action on Tuesday with a road trip to Springfield.
