Cougars Drop 3-2 Decision To Mount Ida

Newton, Mass. – Host Mount Ida College rallied for a thrilling come-from-behind, 3-2 win over visiting Clark in non-league volleyball action on Thursday evening.

The win for the Mustangs exacts some revenge after the Cougars defeated them 3-0 at home to open the 2010 season.

Mount Ida was paced by Rachelle Gilbert (Corunna, Ind.) with 14 kills and five service aces.

Clark, meanwhile, was led offensively by senior outside hitter Amira Tranchell (Falmouth, Mass.), who notched 14 kills while freshman Savonnah Rowe (New York, N.Y.) added four solo blocks.

Senior libero Kortney Kelley (Barnstable, Mass.) chipped in 17 digs for the Cougars, who are off until Tuesday when they host regional power Eastern Connecticut.
