-The Lead: The Clark University women's tennis team dropped a hard fought, four hour, battle with the Bears of Bridgewater State University on Monday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Clark picked up two of three matchups in doubles play. Sophomore Jillian Skulsky (Marshfield, Mass.) and senior Maggie Tarbox (Lebanon, Conn.) defeated Rachel Tarantino and Angelique Gray, 8-4. Junior Anna Gates (North Scituate, R.I.) and sophomore Elizabeth Garfield (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) followed with another victory for Clark at No. 2 Doubles, defeating Emma Mills and Madison Butkus, 8-3.
-Skulsky and Mills finished first at No. 1 Singles, with Mills taking the victory, 6-0, 6-0.
-Garfield picked up a victory for Clark at No. 3 Singles over Tranantino, 7-5, 6-4. Tchantouridze followed up with a victory of her own over Rosa, 6-3, 6-2.
-Bridgewater's Emily McGarth defeated junior Kathryn Benson (Huston, Mass.) in three sets, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot and Gray added another visitor victory at No. 4 singles. Sweeney and Gates also went three sets at No. 2 singles with Sweeney coming out on top to secure the 5-4 victory for the Bears.
-Clark travels to Rhode Island College on Thursday, September 27th for a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m.
-Bridgewater is back on the road on Wednesday, September 26th when they travel to Southern Maine for a MASCAC game at 3:00 p.m.
