-The Lead: The Clark University women's tennis team was swept by the nationally ranked Babson College Beavers in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) outing on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Freshman Alexa Tutecky (North York, Ontario) and senior Jenny Quenard (St.-Legier, Switzerland) earned an 8-0 shutout for Babson over first years Elizabeth Tchantouridze (Northfield, Vt.) and Jillian Skulsky (Marshfield, Mass.) at #1 doubles to give Babson the early upperhand.
-Maggie Tarbox (Lebanon, Conn.) and Chloe Dunnell (Montclair, N.J.) fell at #2 doubles to Babson's Carolina Merz (Santa Tecla, El Salvador) and Kylie Kam (Honolulu, Hawaii) 8-1. Alexandra Blizard (Dover, Mass.) and Kam wrapped up doubles play with an 8-2 victory for Babson as the visitors took a 3-0 lead.
-Tutecky shut out senior Isabelle Long (Bellevue, Wash.) at #1 singles and Merz shut out Skulsky at #2 singles to extend the Beavers lead to 5-0.
-Sophomore Anna Gates(North Scituate, R.I.) fell to Babson senior Claire Foster (Orange, Conn.) and first year Marissa Madison (Columbus, Ohio) earned two shutout sets over Elizabeth Garfield (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) at #4 singles.
-Babson finished out singles with two more shutout victories to secure te 9-0 sweep.
-Clark travels to Wheaton college on Sunday, April 15th for a NEWMAC mach at 2:00 p.m.
-Babson hosts Colby on the same day at noon.
