Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Day One of NEWMAC Championships

Worcester, Mass.—The Clark University women's swimming and diving team finished seventh out of 10 teams overall at the conclusion of day one of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Thursday. Clark has a combined 34 points which ties them with Mount Holyoke College and Smith College.

The United States Coast Guard Academy finished in first place after day one with 66 points. They were followed by MIT with 62 points, Wheaton with 56, Wellesley with 54, WPI and Springfield tied for 5th with 46 points, Clark, Mount Holyoke, and Smith with 34, and Babson sits in last place with 32 total points.

Seniors Quinn Mitchell (West hartford, Conn.) and Amelia Muratori (Southbury, Conn.), along with sophomore Alison Falder (New Milford, Conn.), took 8th place in the women's 800 yard freestyle relay to kick start the four-day championship event. They finished the relay in a time of 8:08.58.

The Cougars are back in the pool at WPI tomorrow, Friday, February 22nd for day two of the NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
