Worcester, Mass. - The Clark University men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped a pair of losses to Trinity College at home on Saturday. The final score for the men's team was 189.5 to 96.5 and the women fell 197 to 93.
Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn) got Clark off to a hot start with a win in the men's 1 Meter dive. He put up 238.55 points, over Trinity's Alex Schrock. Moody got another win in the 3 Meter dive getting a score of 227.90.
Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla) got the win in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a strong swim, putting him above his three competitors from Trinity. He finished with a time of 1:48.77. Ortega got another win for Clark in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 49.64.
Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass), Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla), Sebastian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla), and Konstantin Drallios (Astoria, NY) came in third in the men's 200 Yard Medley putting up a time of 1:45:72.
Eric Corbert (Newton, Mass) came in second in the 100 Yard Freestyle. He finished with a time of 10:47.45.
In the 50 Yard Breaststroke, Drallios put up a good effort, finishing second with a time of 30.41. Drallios also took second place in the 100 Yard Breastroke.
Sebastian Ortega came in second in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.92.
Schrama came in second for Clark in the 50 Yard Freestyle. He finished with a time of 24.16.
On the women's side, Allison Dubick (Cornwall, NY) got the win for Clark in the 50 Yard Backstroke. She finished with a time of 31.41, holding off Emily Capprini from Trinity who finished with a time of 31.72.
Amelia Muratori (Southbury, Conn) also grabbed a win for Clark in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.27. It was a tight race with Grace Gorman from Trinity touching the wall at 25.97. Muratori earned a second win in the 100 Yard Freestyle. It was another close race, with Muratori closing out the competition from teammate Dubick with a time of 56.39.
Joining her teammates, Mira Siewert (Westbrook, Conn) pulled out the win in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.61.
Quinn Mitchell (West Hartford, Conn) won in the 50 Yard Butterfly. It was a large field, but Mitchell finished first with a time of 27.78.
Amelia Muratori (Southbury, Conn), Quinn Mitchell (West Hartford, Conn), Mira Siewert (Westbrook, Conn), and Allison Dubick (Cornwall, NY) swam a tight race in the 200 Yard Medley, coming in second and finishing with a time of 1:56.56.
Alison Falder (New Milford, Conn) came in third in the 1000 yard Freestyle. Her time was 11:36.35. Falder came in second in the 500 Yard Freestyle. She put up a time of 5:43.33.
In the 50 Yard Breaststroke, Siewert came in second. She touched the wall at 33.03, trailing Trinity by less than a second.
Mitchell came in second in the 100 Yard Butterfly. She put up a time of 1:01.97.
The team of Dubick, Mitchell, Muratori, and Elizabeth Cownie (Concord, Mass) came in second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:44.07.
After the meet, Coach Paul E. Phillips noted that since the team's annual training trip to Puerto Rico, the vibe on team "has been overwhelmingly fun and positive, while still working hard every day. [The team] has been really showing up for each other in all facets, and that is the key to everything." Coach Phillips continued, "We have a lot more work ahead of us but I am very encouraged and excited by our progress."
Clark returns to the pool on Wednesday the 23rd against conference opponent WPI.
