Boston, Mass. – Clark University women's swimming sensation Melissa Orzechowski (Windsor, Conn.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's swimmer of the week it was announced on Monday afternoon by league executive director Patrick Summers.
It marks the second time in her career that Orzechowski has earned the weekly accolade after having been honored last February.
This time, Orzechowski collects the award after a Saturday performance that saw her win three events as the Cougars bested Trinity College 161-69 in their first home dual meet of the year.
She took home top honors in the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.34), the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.13) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:03.84) – the last of which was a season best.
Orzechowski and the rest of the Cougars will return to the pool on Thursday, January 12 against Wheaton College and Mount Holyoke.
