WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer team were outlasted by Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon as the Lyons struck for the game-winner in the 94th minute of action to defeat the Cougars, 2-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action at Granger Field.

How It Happened
Wheaton struck for the go-ahead goal in the fifth minute on a shot from Chloe Troy, which held until the end of the half. both teams managed three shots in the first 45-minutes of action with Wheaton leading the way in corner chances, 2-1.
The equalizing goal was put in the net by senior Maya Mashkuri (Montpelier, Verm.) who scored off an assist from first-year midfielder Lila McNamee (Chesire, Conn.). Tying the game at 1-1 in the 79th minute was a huge play for the Cougars, buying them some extra time to win the match as they forced the match into overtime. In the extra session, Wheaton scored on the lone shot taken in the 94th minute as Troy net her second of the day off a feed from Kyla Magalhaes.
Clark sophomore Morgan Small (Quakertown, Penn.) logged a complete-game between the pipes and stopped five of the seven shots sent at her. The close score of the match was also mirrored in shot numbers for the day, with both teams firing off 10 shots on the afternoon. The Lyons led in corner kicks by a 5-1 margin.
Clark has another home match at Granger Field this coming Tuesday night October 22nd at 7:00 pm as Wellesley College comes to Worcester for another pivotal NEWMAC matchup.
