WORCESTER, MA: Sofia Orrico notched the lone goal as WPI got the win to open NEWMAC play. Clark fell on Saturday afternoon 1-0 at WPI's Alumni Stadium.
RECAP: WPI's Georgie Cromwell made a huge stop for the hosts just 37 seconds into the contest as Clark was on the early attack forward. In the 15th minute, Orrico beat her defender before scoring her fourth goal of the season on an unassisted play. WPI's 1-0 lead turned out to be the game deciding goal.
Julianna Christy (Plainville, CT) made four saves in net for Clark as she played all 90 minutes. For the Cougars, Maya Mashkuri (Montpelier, VT) accounted for three shots (all on-goal), Jamie Joseph (Cazenovia, NY) added two shots, and Caroline Wang (Rockville, MD) had two shots herself with one of them being on-goal.
Clark was awarded six of the nine corner kicks while shots (10-10) and shots on-goal (5-5) were both even after 90 minutes of action.
UP NEXT: Clark (4-3) looks to get back to their winning ways as they begin a three-game homestand. Their first of those matches is against Elms on Tuesday at 7pm at Granger Field. WPI (7-1) continues a four-game homestand Tuesday with Roger Williams at 4pm.
