-The Lead: The Clark University women' soccer team rallied to a 3-1 victory over the Lancers of Worcester State University on Saturday afternoon. Sarah Berube (Wilmington, Mass.), Bailey Glenn (Middleboro, Mass.), and Taylor Barbieri (Glastonbury, Conn.) all posted goals to lift the Cougars to their third victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-After a scoreless first 45 minutes of play the Lancers came out of the halftime break with some momentum. They got on the board five minutes into the second half when sophomore Talia Borci (Leicester, Mass.) fed the ball to her classmate Maddie Fong (Norton, Mass.) who lifted the ball to the top right corner of the net over the outstretched hands of Clark goalkeeper, Julianna Christy (Plainville, Conn.), for the 1-0 lead.
-The Cougars found their spark after that and rallied off eight shots on net before they were awarded a penalty kick at the 27 minute mark. Berube lined up for the shot and found space at the bottom right corner to tie the game at 1-1.
-Eight minutes later Clark took the lead when Barbieri crossed the ball to Glenn who was on the left post to knock it in (2-1).
-With six minutes left on the clock the Cougars added an insurance goal when Barbieiri collected a rebound and put the ball past the Worcester State goalkeeper to secure the 3-1 victory.
