Newton, Mass. - Freshman forward Sam Peck scored the game-winning goal for the Lasell College women’s soccer team who knocked off visiting Clark, 3-1, in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday afternoon at Taylor Field.
The Lasers wasted no time taking the lead as Mary Farley scored the game’s first goal just 2:19 into the contest.
Twenty-three minutes later, Peck took a pass from fellow freshman forward Jamie Harris and scored the first goal of her career.
A momentum shift came in the second period as Clark came out with renewed energy. The Cougars took seven shots to Lasell’s one chance and maintained possession for the majority of the half.
Clark got on the board at 57:20 when Megan O’Rourke (Somerset, Mass.) took a pass from freshman Janelle Pasternack (North Brookfield, Mass.) and drilled a shot from 10 yards out.
Lasell retaliated with the final goal of the game in the 83rd minute to seal the victory. Allyson Bushey launched a rocket from the left that was untouchable as it ripped into the opposite corner of the Cougars net for the 3-1 final.
Ashley Parrelli made three saves in the net for Lasell and earned her second win of the season, while Clark netminder Joanna Clark (Windham, Maine) made a pair of saves for the Cougars.
Clark returns to action when they open up NEWMAC play on Saturday at home against MIT.
