HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Cougars took a five point lead late in the first quarter when senior Cori Ouellette (Madison, Conn.) hit a three-pointer and her classmate Sam O'Gara (Worcester, Mass.) drained two free throws (15-10). With just one second on the clock Simmon's Rebekah Carroll (Londonderry, N.H.) knocked one in from behind the arc to bring the Sharks within two heading into the second quarter (15-13).

-First year Emily Sifferlen (North Andover, Mass.) kicked off the second stanza with a basket from behind the arc to put the Cougars back up by five with 8:50 on the clock (18-13). The Sharks pulled back within one on a layup from junior Kirra Courchesne (Wilmington, Vt.) at the 7:48 mark but three points from a pair of free-throws and a layup from senior Ogechi Ezemma (Hope Valley, R.I.) and a three-pointer from Kerstetter extended Clark's lead to eight with 3:42 on the clock. The Cougars closed out the first half with threes from Oullette and O'Gara to climb to a 17-point lead heading into the halftime break (42-25).

-O'Gara led the Cougars with nine points in the first half while Favaloro grabbed eight rebounds. Senior Molly Phillips (Cranston, R.I.) led Simmons offensively with eight points in the first half.

-Kerstetter led Clark with nine points in the third quarter. The Cougars outscored the Sharks 20-11 in the third to extend their lead to 29 points heading into the final stanza (65-36).

-After Clark led by as many as 34 points, the Sharks went on a 4-0 run to come back within 26 with 2:41 to play (75-49), but that is as close as they would come as the Cougars went on to take the 78-49 victory.

-Simmons edged Clark in scoring in the fourth 13-12 as they were paced by Francesca Corsinetti (Johnston, R.I.) with five points.
