Records: Clark University 8-2, UMass-Boston 5-6
Location: Clark Athletic Center, Boston, Mass.
How It Happened:
In a game that featured five ties and seven lead changes, the score was knotted for the final time at 64-64 following dueling three-pointers from Sullivan and then the answer from the Beacons' Raven Kelsey with 51 seconds left.
Sullivan put the Scarlet and White ahead when she scored inside with just 17 seconds remaining, making the score 66-64.
Kelsey looked as if she would even the score with five seconds left to play but her layup attempt was swatted aside by Ezemma, who was also able to grab the rebound. She went down to the other end and made one of two free throws to give the Cougars the victory.
Inside The Numbers:
Clark held a sizable advantage on the interior, holding a 46-34 edge on the glass and a 38-28 bulge in points in the paint.
Numbers Never Lie:
Ezemma finished with her third straight double-double, ending with game-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Sullivan, meanwhile, added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Sam O'Gara (Worcester, Mass.) collected 12, four rebounds and five assists.
She Said It:
"Thrilled with a hard fought team win coming out of the break," said Clark University head coach Pat Glispin. "We had lots of key contributions and managed to get key defensive stops to get a solid road win."
Clark returns to the hardwood on Wednesday morning when they host Springfield College in the first-ever "Get Fit Game". Tipoff is slated for 11:00 a.m.
