Boston, Mass. – For the second time in as many weeks, Clark University star Ogechi Ezemma (Hope Valley, R.I.) has picked up a weekly honor from the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) office it was announced on Monday morning.
Ezemma was named the league's top offensive player, seven days after picking the conference's award for its top defensive player.
This week in Clark's lone contest – a 53-44 win over Suffolk University on Tuesday – Ezemma registered her third double-double of the season as the Cougars topped their win total from all of 2015-16 to improve to 7-2 this season.
In the victory over the Rams, Ezemma erupted for 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half. In addition to her scoring output she anchored a defense that held Suffolk to just 27 percent shooting as she hauled in 15 rebounds and recorded a career-best six blocks.
Through the first nine games of her sophomore campaign, Ezemma is averaging 12.9 points, while ranking first in the NEWMAC in blocks (2.0), third in rebounding (9.3), fifth in steals (2.6) and eighth in field goal percentage (46.2).
Ezemma and Clark are off until December 30 when they visit UMass-Boston for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff with the Beacons.
