Worcester, Mass. – John Karas, a four-year member of the Clark University men's basketball program, has been named an assistant coach with the women's program it has been announced by head coach Pat Glispin and confirmed by interim Director of Athletics and Recreation, Trish Cronin on Friday.
Karas will assist in all facets of the program, with a special emphasis on defense. He will also assist in practice preparation, scouting, student-athlete development and recruiting.
"John brings a tremendous amount of energy and basketball knowledge," said Glispin, who enters her 30th season at the helm of the Cougars in 2013-14. "He will be an extraordinary asset for our program."
A three-time academic all-conference selection, Karas appeared in 60 career contests from 2010-13 making 33 starts, including 23 in his senior year.
Karas graduated in 2013 from Clark with a double degree in management and economics. He is currently enrolled in the University's fifth-year master's program pursuing his MBA with a double concentration in finance and management information systems. He is also employed at Hanover Insurance company.
Clark will open its season on Friday, November 15 against Becker College in the opening round of the Worcester City Tournament.
