Waynesburg cruised to a 7-2 victory in game one, but the Cougars held strong in game two and only fell in the final inning when a two-RBI single from the Panthers gave them the ultimate 2-1 victory.

Game #1: Waynesburg 7, Clark 2

-Clark took an early 1-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets. Leah Bodin (Andover, Vt.) got things started in the second inning when she singled to right field on a full count. Freshman Jessica Urella (North Grafton, Mass.) doubled to right field and earned an RBI when Bodin crossed home plate for the 1-0 lead.

-Waynesburg roared back with three runs in the third to build a lead it never relinquished. The Jackets padded their advantage with two scores in the fifth and closed out the scoring with a pair of runs in the seventh.

-Urella led the Cougars with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate with one RBI. Bodin went 1-for-3 with an RBI in the setback.

-Senior Brenna Foley (Charlton, Mass.) took the loss of the mound going four innings with three strikeouts, two walks, and three runs.

-Junior Taylor Erickson (Natick, Mass.) came in for relief in the fifth innings. She tallied four strikeouts.

-Four different Jackets recorded two hits each in the victory over Clark, including junior first baseman Alex Lawrence, who also doubled, scored two runs and drove in another. Freshman Tara Staley logged a pair of knocks and recorded one RBI.

-The freshman duo of Emma Kubalak and Miranda Bowers combined to allow five hits in the circle. Kubalak started and got the win after working four innings. Bowers struck out four over three innings of relief.

Game #2 Pitt-Bradford 2, Clark 1

-The Cougars took the 1-0 lead in the third inning when a double to left field from Urella scored Erickson from first.

-Pitt-Bradford got all of its offense with the final swing of the day – and that would be all the Panthers would need. With runners on first and second – and the Panthers down to their final out – Betty Fratercangelo stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and lined a two-run single down the third base line that scored Kerrigan Hoffmann and Kennedy Cratty and gave the Panthers the walk-off win in game two, 2-1.

-Sami West (Gonic, N.H.) took the loss on the mound going 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts and just five hits allowed and two earned runs. She falls to 2-1 on the season.

-Kerrigan Hoffmann pitched all seven innings in the circle for the Panthers to earn the first win of her collegiate career.

-Clark plays two at North Collier Park in Naples, Fla. on Tuesday, March 5th. They take on Albion College at 9:00 a.m. and the AMCATS of Anna Maria College at 11:00 a.m.
