Boston, Mass. – Clark University senior infielder Maya Allen (Concord, Mass.) has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball offensive player of the week it was announced on Monday by the league office.
In a 4-6 week in Florida, Allen was superb at the plate, hitting a robust .452 with a .528 on-base percentage and .548 slugging.
She notched her 100th career hit and had three games with three hits - racking up 14 during the trip. In addition to her prowess at the plate, Allen scored 12 runs and drove in four more.
Her best contest of the week came in a 16-3 win over Cedar Crest as she went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. She also had a similar contest in the 8-0 win over Northland where she went 3-for-4 with three runs scored two doubles and two RBI.
The Cougars will return to the diamond next Tuesday when they face Worcester-area rival Becker College.
