Quaker Hill, Conn. - Babson College took advantage of three home runs and a triple to post a 7-0 win over Clark in game number eight of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) softball tournament.
With the victory the Beavers improve to 24-12 on the season, while Clark sees its season come to an end at 16-17.
Babson was led by pitcher Christina Miguel who picked up her second win on the day and did not allow a single run to be scored in her two complete game shutouts and 12 inning pitched on the afternoon.
The Beavers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning Jackie Enos who reached base on walk and would later be forced in when Jessica Winer drew a RBI walk with the bases loaded.
The Beavers added four runs in the bottom of the second inning sparked by a RBI triple down the left field line by Enos. Enos would then score when Catie Funk capped the Babson half of the second inning with a two run homerun down the left field line,
Babson would score two more run in the game both on solo home runs by Tess Pilkington in the bottom of the fourth inning and the last by Jess Winer in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Beavers seven runs on five hits and no errors to defeat the Cougars who would finish the game with no runs on six hits and two errors.
Mel Melkonian (Worcester, Mass.) led the Clark offense with two hits.
