ROW: Cougars Open Fall Season at Head of the Riverfront Regatta

HARTFORD, Conn. – Clark University women's rowing began the 2019 fall season on Sunday morning with three boats competing at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta.

The varsity eight set the pace for the team as coxswain Sophie Spiliotopoulos (Arlington, VA.) led the boat to a time of 17:13.31. That mark was 47 seconds off of the Smith varsity eight (16:25.65) and 57 seconds from first place Tufts (16:15.76.).

The second varsity eight posted a 24th place finish with coxswain Veronica Gould-Schultz (Arlington, VA.) setting the tempo for a 19:58.41 time, less than a minute off the pace off the second varsity eights of Mount Holyoke (19:10.90) and Wesleyan (19:01.45).

Clark's last entry came in the women's open novice 8+ as Ruqayah Al-Ashabi (Hopkinton, Mass.) led the novice 8 into second place with a time of 22:09.10.
