Worcester, Mass.--The Clark University women's rowing team raced in the 2018 New England Rowing Championship on Saturday, May 5th at Lake Quinsigamond. The Cougars raced in the women's 2nd Varsity Four and the women's Varsity Eight.
Both crews had very compeititive finals with Clark beating the University of Rhode Island in the Varsity Eight final with a time of 7:32.771. The team also placed second in the 2nd Varsity Four Final beating Vermont and Franklin Pierce with a time of 8:27.144.
Clark placed seventh overall in the women's Varsity Eight Heat Two with a time of 7:23.697.
The team had the privilege of christening two shells over the weekend. One four was named after the Clark Rowing assistant coach "Thaddeus T Gumula" and the new eight was christened the "Persistence".
The Cougars are back in action on Friday, May 11th as they will compete in the National Invitational Rowing Championship on Lake Quinsigamond. Races start at 8:00 a.m.
