Worcester, Mass. – There is without question rapid improvement when you talk about the Clark University rowing program. That fact was evident by what took place on Sunday morning on Lake Quinsigamond where three of the four boats entered into action turned in second place finishes and the fourth entrant finished third.
The timing of the Cougars ascension couldn't come at a better time with the New England Rowing Championships on tap for next weekend.
On Sunday, it was the men's varsity four who churned out a second place effort in the five entry race. Clark's contingent posted a time of 7:06.91 well ahead of third place Wentworth (7:13.35) and fourth place Connecticut College (7:35.21).
Meanwhile, the women's novice eight was edged out by Connecticut College as the Camels crossed the line at 7:46.2, just ahead of the Scarlet and White (7:50.4).
The Cougar women's varsity eight also turned in a second place finish with their time of 7:11.02, sandwiched in between a pair of Amherst entrants in first (7:00.8) and third (7:13.0), respectively.
Clark's other boat on the water on Sunday was the women's varsity four which grinded out a third place showing behind Connecticut College (7:32.8) and Bowdoin (7:37.6).
The New England Championships will take place next Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond.
