Northampton, Mass. - The 2018 NEWMAC Championship Meet carried on depsite the unforgiving weather conditions. Through rain, heavy winds, and a muddy course, the Clark Cougars placed 7th out of 8 teams on Saturday afternoon. MIT won the meet this year, followed by WPI and Coast Guard in second and third respectively.
Cameron Mitchell (Medford, MA) was the top individual finisher for the Cougars as the graduate student finished in 43rd. Just behind Mitchell was Cameron Keenan (South Glastonbury, CT) in 45th place. Mitchell and his teammates all crossed the finish line close together. In 46th on Saturday was Bobby Sharma (Kobe, Hyogo), in 47th was Ryan Ewanyk (East Northport, NY), and in 48th placed Isaac Stone (Natick, MA). Also competing in the NEWMACs was Liam Stewart (New York, NY) and Isaiah Chamberlain (Great Barrington, MA).
MIT's 2018 Championship was the result of their runners finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd individually at Smith College's course. Junior, Billy Woltz led the way for the Engineers, followed by Andrew Mah and Josh Rosenkranz. WPI's second place finish was helped by their top two runners finishing 4th and 8th overall. Coast Guard's five best runners all ran top 25 times, getting them by fourth place Springfield.
The NCAA Regionals take place on Saturday, November 10th at Bowdoin College in Maine. The 11am meet in Brunsiwck is just now two weeks away.
