Men's Tennis Dominates in 8-1 Season Opener Victory

-The Lead: The Clark University men's tennis team defeated the Colonels of Curry College on Sunday afternoon in the season opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Curry started the day with their lone victory at No. 1 Doubles. Richi Hefler (Canton, Conn.) and Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) defeated sophomores Jose Dalla-Valle (Miami, Fla.) and Nicholas Mathieu (Tompsham, Maine), 8-4.

-Junior Jack Han (Bakersfield, Calif.) and senior Andrey Samodaev (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned a victory for Clark at No. 2 doubles as they battled to an 8-5 advantage over Dawson Sento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) and Nicolas Aguirre (Needham, Mass.).

-Clark senior Jacob Malicky (South Egremont, Mass.) and junior Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) nearly shutout their oppenents at No. 3 doubles as they secured an 8-1 victory.

-Dalla-Valle recorded a win at No. 1 singles (6-2, 7-6, 10-7).

-Mathieu shutout his opponent at No. 2 singles (6-0, 6-0).

-Freshman Max Schweitzer(West Hartford, Conn.) earned Clark's fifth victory as he defeated Stento at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-3).

-Han put the Cougars ahead 6-1 with his win at No. 4 singles (7-5, 2-6, 13-11).

-Samodaev and Ian Levy (Needham, Mass.) finished out the day with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles respectively. Levy earned two shutouts over Curry's Timothy O'Brien (Attleboro, Mass.).
