Regis Slips Past Cougars

Regis Slips Past Cougars

THE BASICS

-Score: Regis College 5, Clark University 4

-Records: Clark (3-11), Regis (12-5)

-Location: Weston, Mass. (Regis Tennis Center)

-The Lead: In a tightly fought match on Monday evening the Clark University men's tennis team dropped to the Pride of Regis College, 5-4, in non-conference action in Weston, Mass. Jose Dalla-Valle (Miami, Fla.) and Christian Ruebens (Cheshire, Conn.) led the Cougars as they teamed up for a doubles victory and each claimed victories in their singles matches.

HOW IT HAPPNENED

-The narrow win was aided greatly by the Pride's 2-1 lead after doubles play. Nolan Bebarta (Danville, Calif.) was the key figure in Regis leading after doubles play, rallying with No. 2 doubles partner Johnny Pallotta (Bay Shore, N.Y.) to top the Cougar pair of Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) and Jacob Malicky (South Egremont, Mass.).

-Pallotta would put the Pride up 3-1 in singles after a 6-1, 6-0 win over Duncan Drapeau (Boothbay, Maine) but straight-set victories by Dalla-Valle and Ruebens at the one and two, respectively, evened the match. Malicky for Clark and Tim Miller (North Attleboro, Mass.) for Regis each handled their opponents to set the stage for Bebarta's match-clinching win, the only three-set singles contest of the evening.
