-The Lead: The Clark University men's tennis team fell to the Skyhawks of Stonehill College on Thursday afternoon in their final match in Florida. Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) earned a victory at No. 2 singles while Jacob Malicky (South Egremont, Mass.) earned points for Clark at No. 6 singles.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Senior Thomas Bellio led Stonehill with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles. He combined with freshman Trent Newman for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles as the Skyhawks swept the three doubles matches to send them on their way to the win. Bellio followed that up with a 6-4, 6-0 decision against Clark freshman Jose Della-Valle (Miami, Fla.).
-Sophomore Manu Ravichandrakumar and freshman Russell White were both double-winners for Stonehill, starting by combining for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. White added a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win over Clark sophomore Jack Han (Bakersfield, Calif.) at No. 3 singles, while Ravichandrakumar defeated junior Andrey Samadaev (Boca Raton, Fla.) 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4.
Sophomore Aaron Diamond added a win at No. 5 singles against sophomore Alex Hattenbach (Wilton, Conn.) to improve to 9-0 this season. Seniors Tom Buckley and Nikolay Lisichenok notched an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles for the Skyhawks.
-Siegel and Malicky earned points for Clark with their wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively, both rallying from a set down to win in third set tiebreakers.
-The Cougars head back to Worcester, Mass. and travel to Regis College on Tuesday, March 20th for a non-conference match at 4:30 p.m.
