Bridgewater, Mass. - On Saturday afternoon, the Clark University Men's Swimming & Diving team fell to the Bridgewater State Bears by a combined score of 184 to 107.
Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) won two races for the Cougars. He placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle finishing a full four seconds faster than his nearest competitor with a time of 1:50.41. Ortega also won the 200 Yard IM, this time beating his nearest opponent by five seconds with a time of 2:05.94. Ortega also competed in the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing just over a second behind first place with a time of 50.85
Dan Broderick (Tolland, Conn.) finished first in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a commanding time of 2:10.67.
In the 200 Yard Medley, Clark came in second place behind a strong effort from Julian Ortega, Konstantin Drallios (Astoria, N.Y.), Sebastian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.), and Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.). They finished under three seconds off the lead with a final time of 1:47.49
Clark placed second and third in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Eric Cobert's (Newton, Mass.) 10:57.13 was good enough to snag second place, while his teammate Matt Finnegan (Rutland, Mass) finished third at 11:29.54
In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Schrama's time of 23.85 was good enough to finish third. Schrama also took second in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn.) came in second place in a pair of dives—the first from the 1 mtr and the second dive from the 3 mtr, both scores finishing behind Alex Belinsky, a senior from Bridgewater State.
Drallios came in second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. He touched the wall with a time of 2:25.54
Eric Cobert finished second in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:19.04
Clark returns to action on Saturday, November 17th against NEWMAC foe, Babson College
