Men's Swimming and Diving Concludes Day Two of NEWMAC Championship

Cambridge, Mass.-- The Clark University men's swimming and diving team placed 7th at the conclusion of day two of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) 2018 Swimming and Diving Championship on Friday. They posted 114 points through the 14th event.

MIT leads the way with 570 points while the U.S. Coast Guard Academy is just behind them with 426.5 points. WPI sits in third place with 342 points. Springfield takes the fourth slot (209.5), Wheaton and Babson are tied at fifth place (195) and Clark rounds out the competition in 7th (114).

Juniors Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Bill Holloman (Avon, Conn.), Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.) and Johan Nel (Mayne, Maine) swam in the men's 200 yard freestyle "A" final event for Clark and finished in a time of 1:31.63.

Schrama, Holloman, Ortega and freshman Nick Sakoff (New York, N.Y.) placed 7th in the 400 yard medley "A" final in a time of 3:43.96. They shaved 11.43 seconds off of their prelim time.

Clark returns to the MIT pool on Saturday. Events include the 400-IM, 100-fly, 200-free, 100-breast, 100-back and 200-medley relay. Prelims begin at 10:00 a.m. and finals start at 6:00 p.m.
