Waltham, Mass--The Clark University men's swimming and diving team fell to the Judges of Brandeis University in a non-conference meet on Saturday afternoon at Linsey Pool, 132-95.
Freshman Matt Finnegan (Rutland, Mass.) placed second in the men's 1000 yard freestyle event when he finished in a time of 11:31.75. Julian Ortega (Wesst Palm Beach, Fla.) took third place in the 200 yard freestyle with a 1:51.55 finish.
Senior Steven Castiglione (North Haven, Conn.) earned first place in the men's one meter dive with a score of 201.15. Sophomore Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn.) placed second with a score of 152.50. Castiglione and Moody combined for 13 points in the first diving event of the day. Castiglione also placed first in the second one meter diving event with a score of 215.80. Moody placed second again just behind Castiglione with a score of 213.45. They combined for another 13 points on the day.
Julian Ortega finished third in the men's 100 yard butterfly as he touched the wall in 55.66, just behind the second place time of 55.37. Sebastian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) then swam the 100 yard freestyle in 52.91 to claim second place.
Freshman Eric Cobert (Newton, Mass.) took second place in the 500 yard freestyle when he finished in 5:23.19. Finnegan touched the wall just behind Cobert in 5:36.68 for third place in the event.
Clark swimming and diving will host the Cougar Invitational on Saturday, February 10th at 1:00 p.m.
