New London, Conn.--The Clark University men's swimming and diving team fell to the Bears of Coast Guard Academy in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) meet on Saturday afternoon in New London, Conn.
Senior Steven Castiglione (North Haven, Conn.) placed fourth in the men's one meter diving event with a score of 239.92. Sophomore Rowan Moody (Ellington, Conn.) earned fourth place in the three meter dive with a season best score of 225.
Freshman Eric Cobert (Newton, Mass.) swam a personal best 1:58.69 in the men's 200 yard freestlye for fourth place in the eighth event of the afternoon. Later in the meet he posted a season best time in the 200 yard IM with a 2:13.10 finish. Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.) and Sebastian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) finished back-to-back in the 100 yard backstroke when they touched in 1:02.23 and 1:02.90 respectively.
Freshman Nick Sakoff (New York, N.Y.) finished in fourth to lead Clark in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.17. Johan Nel (Wayne, Maine) followed in 1:08.86 and Noah Liscord (Wayne, Maine) claimed a season best time when he touched the wall in 1:13.02. Ortega claimed third place in the 200 yard backstroke as he finished in his best time this season, 2:14.64. Later Ortega posted another season best time when he placed second in the 100 yard butterfly in 55.38.
Coast Guard took the final victory over the Cougars, 219-65. Clark travels to Brandeis University on February 3rd for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference meet.
