Bristol, R.I.--The Clark University Women's and Men's swimming & diving team competed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational at Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon.
On the women's side Quinn Mitchell (West Hartford, Conn.) finished third in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a mark of 1:04.55 behind top RWU finishers Megan Peters (1:01.59) and Bharathi Kolluru (1:03.64). Clark's Lauren Williams (Cumberland, Maine) finished 11th in the 200 Yard Freestyle in 2:16.33 and Alison Falder (New Milford, Conn.) finished 9th overall in the 200 Yard IM with a mark of 2:27.82. Allison Dubick (Cornwall, N.Y.) was Clark's top finisher in the 50 Yard Freestyle finishing in 7th (27.18) while Amelia Muratori (Southbury, Conn.) placed 9th (27.26). Dubick placed 8th for Clark in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a mark of 1:00.06. Flader was the Cougar's top finisher in the 500 Yard Freestyle. She finished 4th in 5:47.58.
The women's 200 Yard Medley Relay consisted of Williams, Mitchell, Muratori and Dubick. They placed second behind RWU in 2:02.02. Clark's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay consisted of Falder, Williams, Elizabeth Cownie (Concord, Mass.) and Charlotte Gray (Sandy Hook, Conn.) who earned third place with a 1:51.53 finish behind RWU and Gordon College.
The Clark University men's 200 Yard Medley Relay made up of: Dylan Schrama (Taunton, Mass.) , Johan Nel (Wayne, Maine), Julian Ortega (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Konstantin Drallios (Queens, N.Y.) placed third overall in 1:47.51. Schrama placed 5th overall in the men's 200 Yard IM with a mark of 2:12.24. Nel finished 13th (25.17) in the men's 50 Yard Freestyle while Ortega took 4th in the 100 Yard Butterfly (55.90). Eric Cobert (Newton, Mass.) (5:24.74), Ortega (5:24.82) and Drallios (5:32.13) finished in 7th, 8th and 9th respectively in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
The men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay consisted of Nick Sackoff (New York, N.Y.), Ortega, Cobert and Noah Liscord (Wayne, Maine) who finished 5th overall in 1:41.59. Schrama finished the 100 Yard Backstroke in 1:03.43 while Nel finished the 10 Yard Backstroke in 1:09.54 to lead Clark.
The Cougar's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay finished 4th. Drallios, Ortega, Schrama and Nel finished in 3:37:40 behind Regis, Roger Williams and UMass. Dartmouth.
"Although it's very early in the season I was very encouraged by our teams' competitiveness but most importantly their cohesiveness and enthusiasm. Those traits will serve them well as we move forward." said Coach Phillips. The Cougars host the Worcester City Championships on Saturday, October 28th at 1:00 p.m.
