Worcester, Mass. – Jack Hall (McLean, Va.) and Steven Castiglione (West Haven, Conn.) each claimed individual victories and the 200-yard freestyle relay team also touched the wall first but Clark University came up short in a dual meet with New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival, Wheaton College, 153-71, on Friday afternoon at the Kneller Center Pool.
Hall took top honors in the 500-yard freestyle, outlasting Wheaton's Christopher Alkire with a time of 5:14.05. He then added a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle where Alkire edged him out as Hall crossed the finish line at 11:14.28.
Castiglione, meanwhile, continues to impress in his inaugural season, claiming the individual crown on the one-meter board with a score of 214.40.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Brendan Burgess (Saline, Mich.), Eddie McCluskey (Hope, Maine), Mark Crisafulli (Wayland, Mass.) and Tyler Terriault (Claremont, N.H.) turned in a time of 1:40.91, besting another Clark foursome of Hall, Will Hurley (Swanville, Maine), Jake Dinerman (Cranston, R.I.) and Mick Chertov (West Roxbury, Mass.) (1:46.46).
The Cougars are back in action on Friday when they take part in the Worcester City Championships.
