HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Clark offense dominated the first half outshooting the Falcons 16-3. In the 25th minute of play the Cougars got on the board when a throw in from junior Trevor Sheridan (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) was launched to the outstretched arms of Fitchburg goalkeeper, Ga Massicotte (Clinton, Mass.), and the ball rolled off his fingertips and landed in the goal off of a Fitchburg defender (1-0).
-With 14:36 on the clock the Falcons saw a bid for a goal when senior Stephen Nagle (Lancaster, Mass.) took Clark goalkeeper Marco White (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) 1v1 and White came up with a huge save to keep the 1-0 advantage.
-At the 11:58 mark freshman Connor Ross (Atkinson, N.H.) carried the ball up the left sideline and dished it to the middle of the goal box where his classmate Brian Brennan (Stoneham, Mass.) was to pick it up. Brennan dodged two Falcon defenders and buried the ball to the top right shelf for the 2-0 lead.
-With 10:20 to play in the first stanza the Cougars almost put away another goal when junior Evan Jurkowski (Ludlow, Mass.) ripped a shot that ricocheted off the crossbar and fell just in front of the goal line. The Cougars took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
-The Falcons saw another chance at a goal when senior Marckdonard Bastien (Worcester, Mass.) fired a shot that was again stopped by White who came charging out of the net to preserve the shutout.
-Clark tallied their third and final goal with just under 27 minutes to play. Senior Jack Stark (Abington, Mass.) took a shot that was initially stopped by goalkeeper Sebastian Jaramillo (Dracut, Mass.), but Ross picked up the rebound and finished at the back of the net for the 3-0 victory.
