-The Lead: The Clark University men's soccer team saw their seven game winning streak come to an end with a setback to the Lyons of Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon. The lone goal of the game was scored on a penalty kick granted to Wheaton in the first half. Prior to the start of the game Clark recognized seniors Jack Stark (Abington, Mass.) and Julian Feshbach-Meriney (Concord, Mass.) for Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The lone goal of the game came with 18 minutes remaining in the first half when Wheaton was awarded a penalty kick. Senior Curran Wait (Scituate, Mass.) scored to the left side of the net and that would be the only goal Wheaton would need to take home the 1-0 victory.
-Clark saw a handful of close scoring opportunities in the last four minutes of the game as they rallied off three shots that nearly tied the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Clark edged Wheaton in shots 14-12 (8-6 shots on goal).
-Wheaton held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 11-10.
-Sophomore Melvin Vincent (Rochester, Mass.) made five stops for the Cougars in the setback and falls to 5-1 this season.
-Freshman goalkeeper Diego Medina (Yonkers, N.Y.) made eight saves in the victory.
-Clark hosts the University of New England on Wednesday, September 26th at 7:00 p.m.
-Wheaton plays out of conference on Tuesday, September 25th at Brandeis at 7:00 p.m.
