Worcester, Mass. – After a 2016 season that saw them win 14 matches and advance to the conference semifinals, the 2017 Clark University men's soccer schedule has been released by head coach Matt O'Toole.
The Scarlet and White return a wealth of talent from a squad that posted an undefeated September and went an impressive 7-1 at home.
"Our staff is eagerly awaiting the start of our preseason camp for the 2017 campaign, said O'Toole, who was named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year in 2016. "We have a wonderful group of returning upperclassmen along with another strong impacting first year class joining our roster. Together, we are looking forward to building on the successes from the previous year."
The Cougars will open up the season on the road at the Roger Williams Squad Locker Classic on September 2 and 3. Clark won the tournament a season ago by shutting out both Rhode Island College and the host Hawks. This year, the field consists of Keene State – the Scarlet and White's opening round opponent, the aforementioned Hawks and Newbury College.
Clark stays on the road with a contest at Rhode Island College (September 5) before returning home to host Dean College in their home opener (September 9).
Road trips to New Hampshire to square off with Rivier (September 10) and Colby-Sawyer (September 13) are followed by a Senior Day matchup with Emerson College (September 16) and a visit from Bridgewater State (September 20).
Two challenging road contests at Wheaton College (September 23) and at University of New England (September 27) precede a home rematch with defending league champion Springfield College (September 30) as September comes to a close.
The three-game homestand continues with visits from Western New England (October 4) and Coast Guard (October 7) as the calendar turns to October, where four of the Cougars' final six games are on the road.
That stretch begins with trips to Fitchburg State (October 11) and MIT (October 14) before a visit from regional power Brandeis (October 18).
The regular season winds down with contests at Babson College (October 21) and Framingham State (October 25) and then the regular season finale at home against WPI (October 28).
Clark will be anchored by several returning stars, including all-conference netminder Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) and defensive stalwarts Julian Feshbach-Meriney (Concord, Mass.) and Ethan Ziemba (Glen Gardner, N.J.).
