Norton, Mass. – Host Wheaton College handed Clark University its worst defeat of the season, rolling past the Cougars 4-0 behind three second half goals in a New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer contest on Saturday afternoon.
The win for the Lyons is their ninth straight against Clark dating back to the 2008 season and gives them wins in four of their final five regular season contests heading into the upcoming postseason tournament.
For the Cougars, meanwhile, despite the loss, their season will continue as well with a berth in the conference tournament. By virtue of their regular season league record (4-3) they received a bye into the tournament semifinal round and will enter as the No. 3 seed where they will face No. 2 Springfield on Saturday, November 5 at 1:30 p.m.

How It Happened:
Clark actually had a chance to get on the board first on a header by Zack Blais (Tiverton, R.I.) in the 19th minute, but he was met by Lyon keeper Erik Wisniewski. The save was the only one Wisniewski was forced to make in the first half and one of three on the day.
Moments later, Kevin Davis put the Lyons ahead for good. Roni Diniz had his shot blocked, but the ball bounced back to Davis who headed the ball into the left netting.
Ahead 1-0 midway through the second half, Wheaton put three goals on the board in a 15 minute span – two of which came from Diniz and both off of assists from Amara Sesay.
Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) made seven saves in net for the Cougars, who were outshot 24-5 by the hosts.
