Worcester, Mass. – For the second week in a row a Clark men's soccer student-athlete has been named New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) defensive player of the week.
On Monday afternoon the league announced that this week's award was going to standout defensive stalwart Ethan Ziemba (Glen Gardner, N.J.) who helped the Scarlet and White remain undefeated at 8-0-0.
Ziemba was the anchor to a Scarlet and White defense that posted two shutouts and allowed just five shots on goal in the two victories.
So far this season, the Ziemba-led defense has been so stout they have yielded just one goal – a penalty kick - in their last three contests and lead the league in fewest goals allowed overall (3).
A four-time Dean's List selection as well as a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree last season, Ziemba has started all 44 games of his career.
Clark, ranked sixth in New England in the latest NSCAA Regional Poll, has two home games slated for this week. First the Cougars will host the University of New England in a non-conference affair on Wednesday and then they welcome Springfield College to Worcester for a huge league showdown on Saturday.
