Springfield, Mass. – Clark University scored a pair of second half goals to erase a halftime deficit and remain undefeated, knocking off host Western New England 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars are now 4-0 for the first time since 2011 when they finished 8-7-2 and missed out on the conference playoffs after losing on the regular season's final day in double overtime.

Game Information
Score:
Clark 2, Western New England 1
Records:
Clark 4-0-0, Western New England 1-4-0
Location: Supernant Field, Springfield, Mass.

How It Happened:
After giving up their first goal of the season in the eighth minute of the contest, the Cougars responded to score the final two markers of the game.

The first came less than three minutes into the second half when freshmen Jonathan Guilherme (Oxford, Conn.) connected with classmate Evan Jurkowski (Ludlow, Mass.) for his first collegiate score at 47:45.

Things stayed that way until the 68th minute when two more freshmen connected for the go ahead tally. Trevor Sheridan (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) set up Mana Chavali (Brookline, Mass.) with a pass right out in front of the goal mouth for what proved to be the game winner at 67:48.

After the Scarlet and White went ahead, the defense clamped down and didn't allow a shot on goal in the final 22 plus minutes of action.

Man Of The Match:
Even though he allowed the first goal of the season, Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) was still stellar, making seven stops in goal for the Scarlet and White, picking up his third victory of the season. After his performance on Sunday, Maguire now ranks second in the NEWMAC in goals against average (0.31), saves (16) and save percentage (.941).

Coach Speak:
"Today was a chance for us to look in the mirror at halftime and find out what we are really made of this year," said head coach Matt O'Toole. "I'm very pleased with our ability to make the necessary changes."

Up Next:
The Cougars return to the pitch when they open the home portion of their 2016 slate with a Wednesday showdown against Colby-Sawyer. That contest is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
