Senior Trio Named Captains For 2016

Worcester, Mass. – Seniors Vinny Morra (East Setauket, N.Y.), Michael Spanos (Waterford, Conn.) and T.J. Zirkman (Freehold, N.J.) have been named captains for the 2016 men's soccer season it was announced on Monday by head coach Matt O'Toole.

"All three seniors have played important roles in our team since their first season our staff is looking forward to working with them as our team leaders in the fall," said O'Toole who will be entering his fifth season on the Clark sidelines in 2016.

Morra has appeared in 54 career contests for the Scarlet and White and has seven career goals and 17 points, while Spanos has been a fixture on the Cougar backline, seeing action in 47 all-time games, with 41 starts and two career assists.

For Zirkman, meanwhile, he returns for his second year as a captain after a 2015 campaign that saw him score three goals – all of which were game-winners. For his career, he has appeared in 53 games, making 45 starts and is a two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection.

The 2016 season for the Cougars begins on Saturday, September 3 against Rhode Island College at the Roger Williams Squad Locker Classic in Bristol, R.I.
