Richardson Backstops Cougars To 1-0 Win
Framingham, Mass. – Clark junior captain TJ Zirkman (Freehold, N.J.) scored the game's lone goal and Alistair Richardson (Tolland, Conn.) made it stand up as the visiting Cougars shutout host Framingham State, 1-0, on Tuesday evening in non-league men's soccer action at Maple Street Field.

The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, October 28th but was moved to Tuesday in anticipation of poor weather in the greater Boston area on Wednesday.

With the win the Cougars have won consecutive games for the first time this season and are now 6-9-1 on the season while the Rams slip to 5-12.

Zirkman registered his third marker of the season when he sent a long strike towards the net that tipped off Rams' netminder Josh Arno's (Natick, Mass.) hands and snuck inside the right post to give the Scarlet and White all they would need at 34:16.

The Rams had many opportunities to score including in the 76th minute when the Rams sent a corner kick bending toward the near post that was then redirected to the far side but a diving save by the Richardson kept the Rams off the board.

The Cougars outshot the hosts 26-to-19 but were called for 12 fouls to the Rams 5.

Richardson made ten saves in the shutout victory. Arno, meanwhile, made 14 saves in the loss.

The Rams return to action on senior day, Saturday, October 31st when they host Mass. Maritime in the regular season finale. The Cougars host Wheaton College in NEWMAC action on the same day.
