Dudley, Mass. – Senior Jeremy Nash (West Springfield, Mass.) stopped four shots on his way to his first shutout of the season as Nichols College defeated Clark University 1-0 in non-league men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Soccer Field.
The Cougars, who scored six goals in their season-opening win against Becker College last Friday, have now been shutout in back-to-back games.
Nichols (2-0-0) had a few threats early in the game but finally put one in the net at the 30 minute marker of the first half. Ryan Banker (Ashaway, R.I.) potted his second goal of the season after receiving a cross from freshman Rielee Mohsin (Stuart, Fla.) that bounced through to the foot of Banker at 30:05.
The Cougars came out on the offensive in the second half but couldn't muster up a solid scoring chance.
Clark (1-2) was led by freshman Demetri Boumis (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) with two shots while four other student-athletes provided one shot each.
Freshman Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) stopped five shots and despite having given up only two career goals, falls to 1-2.
The Cougars will look to return to the win column on Saturday when they play to host Eastern Nazarene at 1:00 p.m.
