Boston, Mass. – Clark University junior striker Oscar Zapata (Lima, Peru) has been named to the New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer first-team all-conference it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Zapata picks up the award after a 2013 season that saw him finish first on the team in goals (7) and points (15) – the second time in his three seasons in a Clark jersey that he has led the team in scoring.
Earlier this week he was named to the academic all-conference team, becoming one of just three men's soccer players in the league to be named to the first-team and receive the league's top academic honor.
Zapata scored the game-tying goal in the eventual 1-1 tie with Babson and then erupted for three goals in a 4-0 win over Emerson College, giving the Cougars their first league win since 2010.
In 48 games in his first three seasons, Zapata has 24 goals and 49 career points.
