Westwood, Mass.--Clark University junior, Bobby Philbin (Ridgefield, Conn.) was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
In a 2-0 week for the Cougars Philbin dominated in face-offs winning 21-of-24 over the two games and picked up 15 ground balls. The junior is now third overall in the NEWMAC in face-offs, 127-162. The junior midfielder was also an offensive force with six points from five goals and an assist. He started the week with four goals in a 12-10 conference victory at Massachusetts Maritime Academy before adding a goal and an assist in Clark's 17-3 victory over Emerson on Saturday.
Philbin has picked up a team-leading 76 grounballs this season to go along with 11 goals and two assists.
Clark is back in action on Saturday, April 13th when they travel to Wheaton College for a NEWMAC contest at 1:00 p.m.
