Worcester, Mass.— The Clark University men's lacrosse team will be hosting the fourth annual Renny Classic on Saturday, March 30th at their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game with the Bears of the Coast Guard Academy at 8:00 p.m. The event will take place at Granger Field, home of the Cougars, on Beaver Street in Worcester, Mass! The Renny Classic is an Alzheimer's Awareness game that the men's lacrosse team began hosting back in 2016.
Men's Lacrosse uses the platform of the lacrosse game every year to generate awareness and raise funds in an effort to find a cure for the Alzheimer's disease. Three and half years ago, recent alum Whit Merritt shared with the team his father was battling the disease, and they felt this was a way to honor Renny Merritt and continue the fight alongside him.
The team will be collecting donations for the Alzheimer's Association in Worcester, Mass. The Association helps families who have a loved one fighting with Alzheimer's gain the resources to help support them in the fight. Over the past three years the Cougars have raised over $12,000 for this great cause.
