Tobin, Kittredge, Gayman Named as 2018-2019 Men's Basketball Captains

Worcester, Mass.—The Clark University men's basketball team along with head coach, Paul Phillips is pleased to announce senior Denis Tobin (Medway, Mass.), junior Brendan Kittredge (Clinton, Mass.), and sophomore Biko Gayman (Fort Pierce, Fla.) as the 2018-2019 team captains.

Here is what Coach Phillips had to say about each captain:

"Our senior captain, Denis has been a great leader in the program since he was a freshman. He's a coach's dream because he's always communicating, asking the right questions, and an extension of the coaching staff on the floor; his basketball IQ is second to none. Brendan leads by example on the court. Always plays hard and is someone that our young team can look up to for guidance in the classroom as well. As for our youngest captain, Biko is our floor general and as he goes our team goes. Naturally people gravitate toward him. His ability to play and ability to demand excellence of others made him a great choice as captain".

When asked what it means to them to be a captain and to lead their teams, and what they look forward to this season here is what Tobin, Kittredge, and Gayman had to say:

"It means a lot to be recognized as a captain by the coaches and my teammates. I'm expecting to be the vocal leader of the group. I'm lucky to have had good captains in the years before me who have been excellent examples of how to lead," said Tobin.

"I am honored to be named captain of the Clark University Men's Basketball Team. We are a very young team, but I do my best to lead these guys by working hard every single day, and leading them by example," said Kittredge.

"Being captain to me is a role that involves leadership and being someone that the team trusts. I aspire to be someone that the team can look up to and one that leads with action not just words. Ultimately a captain to me is a team player - recognizing that with togetherness anything can be accomplished. I'm looking forward to a good year, working hard, and most importantly having fun while doing all of this," said Gayman.

The men's basketball team opens up the 2018-2019 season in the Midnight Mayhem game on Thursday morning at 12:01 a.m. This season the midnight tip-off will be held at Worcester State. Their home opener is set for November 29th when they host Becker College at 7:00 p.m.
